Working Student (f/m) - Database and web-interface

Job Description

The competitiveness of battery powered devices like mobile phones is assessed by so-called power KPIs Key Performance Indicators which assign a power consumption value to specific device use cases like video streaming. These power use cases are defined in a structured, parametric way to make the KPIs unique, reproducible and comparable across products. Lab equipment and simulation test benches are configured with these use case parameters during product development and test.

You will be responsible for the development and the maintenance of a framework which contains and manages the power use cases and makes the use case parameters available to system verification & test engineers over a web interface.

Your main tasks will be:

- Development of a database for power use cases including a web-based front-end for easy access to the data

- Maintaining the existing power use case database

- Integrating the power use case database into a broader power infrastructure e.g. establish interfaces to power measurements databases, lab equipment or power simulation frameworks

- Working with the experts to define new power use cases and map the parameters to the database structure

- Contributing to evaluation of alternate, higher-performance frameworks together with IT experts and migration of the data when the new framework is available

- Student working towards a relevant Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Good experience with relational databases like MySQL
- Experience in programming and development of web-based enterprise applications and CRUD frameworks is an advantage
- Good programming language skills in Java and knowledge in Java standards like Java Persistence, Portlets or Enterprise JavaBeans are desired
- Knowledge in mobile communication standards like LTE would be a plus
- Good problem solving skills, independent and structured way of work
- Fluent in English language, German is a plus
