Job Description
Intel is seeking an experienced software validation engineer to join the High Performance Data Division Exascale Storage team. This role will help validate IO software being developed by Intel, such as IO Forwarding, CART, Lustre, MPI, ZFS work critical to the development of exascale HPC architectures. The IO software stack must be optimized to prevent a storage bottleneck as throughput increases substantially, and demand will only increase in the coming years as our ability to collect data is ever-increasing. We are looking for a test engineer who can, in learning this new I/O stack, demonstrate its abilities at scale and under load, and find critical bugs before it is put into production. Responsibilities include:- Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans and automated test cases.- Understand new features from existing documentation and reading c source code. - Write integration, feature, and internals tests to verify those features work, work with other pieces of software, and under different stresses. - Driving development of system-level validation software. - Drive to push the boundaries of the software and know where the breaking points are.- Debugs software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products.- Analyzes test results to ensure correct functionality. Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software.- Can independently determine root causes of failures and recommend corrective action.- Work closely with development to drive resolution of bugs.- Opportunities to drive improved validation methodologies within the team.This job requires a team player with good organizational/planning skills, and a proven past successes in completing large projects.


Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent- 5+ years related experience as a test developer and/or software engineerRequired Skills:- Experience in creating and executing detailed test plans.- Strong programming skills. Python and C ideal.- Experience with software debugging.- Strong Linux skills.- Exposure to cluster/HPC computing.Desirable Skills:- Linux kernel development and debugging- Familiarity with open source development tools and techniques.- Good understanding of file system fundamentals, including POSIX conformance.- Working knowledge of FUSE - I/O and network benchmarking, stress testing- Scale testing over high performance, low latency, networks such as Intel Omnipath- Understanding of RPCs, network programming- Experience with an existing file system technology such as: ext 3/4, BTRFS, ZFS, WAFL, - Familiarity with Lustre or similar parallel file systems.- Experience with Continuous Integration.- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.This position involves work on a U.S. Government contract which may impose certain security requirements: If you are a U.S. citizen, the government may require that you certify that you are a U.S. citizen.
