What You'll Do

You will join a global team that supports the new product introduction of medium and value priced routers. The Product Operations team in Cisco’s Supply Chain Organization is seeking a Test Development Engineer to reside in San Jose, California. You will have the opportunity to think out of the box with innovation and grow your skills.

  • You will review ODM manufacturing test plans and provide guidance to the ODM
  • You will assist in the bring up of prototypes
  • You will act as the liaison between Cisco and the supplier for test topics
  • You will monitor and resolve technical issues related to testing

For Cisco internal designed products, you'll be responsible for:

  • Defining the manufacturing test solution that will be used in production
  • Personally write the test code or manage someone who is writing the test code
  • Evaluate the test instrumentation to be used in production
  • Work directly with test fixture vendors in the design and prove-in of the fixtures
  • Write the manufacturing test plan
  • Professionally represent Cisco when taking care of suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Flexibility to join phone conferences during early or late hours with global teams on a regular basis.
  • International travel is possible, but not often.
  • Participate with other local Cisco team members in volunteer activities and fun events.

Who You'll Work With

You will be part of a manufacturing test engineering team which interacts with ODM suppliers for non-Cisco designs. Our team supports one of Cisco’s routing business units as well as the wireless business unit. Our products contain leading edge technologies which make them the best in the industry.

Who You Are

You have a strong software and coding background. You have experience with Python and have worked with multiple Linux distributions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Basic understanding of routing and switching, CCNA helpful
  • Basic understanding of test instrumentation and test fixtures
  • Technical writing using email, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, willing to manage day-to-day tasks with minimal direct supervision while communicating with a variety of teams.
  • Experience with RF/wireless technologies beneficial

Desired Skills:

  • Test Sequencer – understand the structure of a test sequencer, input controls, data transfer, and data reporting
  • Python – deep understanding of this coding language which will be used to control the device under test and any test instrumentation required
  • Advanced data analytics – ability to use data tools such as Spotfire or Tableau to drive test decisions in an automated fashion, statistical analysis
  • Test engineering experience with functional test, Design for Test, test coverage, creation of test plans, test strategies
  • Software Development – partner with software designers in the release of customer images throughout the NPI process using supply chain tools; work with program managers in establishing fulfillment and licensing models
