  1. Cisco Systems Collaboration team seeks an experienced software architect to help define and drive a technical vision for the Spark Web Client. The right individual will demonstrate a proven passion for web technologies, the courage to drive hard design decisions and recognize opportunities based on industry trends and shifts, demonstrate a proven ability to make practical decisions which balance short-term product and business needs against longer-term product direction, and possess an exceptional communication skill set both for engineers and non-technical people. This person will also be asked to mentor and coach younger engineers on the Spark web client team.

Cisco Spark uses the latest web technologies and tools in order to build the best real-time, plug-in less web collaboration client on the market – blending various forms of real-time and asynchronous communication seamlessly into an intuitive, friendly and visually appealing platform.

The software architect will be continually challenged to inform the product direction, drive sound architectural designs which favor practicality, performance, and resiliency and inspire the engineers to deliver amazing code.

Our team works to define the standard for collaboration by developing a killer web application delivered direct to enterprise grade customers. The Spark web team is responsible for providing a low-barrier, easy and accessible collaboration experience harnessing the power of the Cisco Spark platform. You have a unique opportunity to join this disruptive software team at transformative stage and unleash the collaborative capabilities of the browser stack.


Who You Are

You've got experience designing and implementing complex web-based software systems. You have thorough knowledge the full web stack development, testing, continuous delivery models and related open source tools. You have excellent analytic and decision making skills.  Your strong communication skills help you influence others.


Our minimum requirements for this role: 

- Masters of Science in CS or CE desired. BS in Computer Science or Engineer required.

- 8+ years of software development with demonstrated results and increasing performance on web applications

- 2+ years’ experience with software architecture and technical leadership desired

- Experience with continuous delivery development and third-party open source tools on a cloud based product.

- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver an open source project for the web – such as a node module or npm package

- Demonstrated ability to define and evangelize a software architecture on a cloud service

- Senior experience on JavaScript frameworks, Java, WebRTC, test-driven development frameworks, GitHub, SauceLabs, Selenium, and related technologies and products

- Key knowledge and demonstrated abilities in CSS3 and HTML5
