What You'll Do:

- Conceptualizes plans, develops, and writes documentation sets, including complex technical material, under limited supervision.
- Identifies, plans for and revises technical writing project requirements, and researches complex source material for those projects.
- Performs simultaneous tasks and project coordination for multiple projects.
- Serves as lead writer for complex projects and ensures that projects are completed on schedule.
- Takes on special projects outside the scope of regular tasks.
- Thinks globally, works
collaboratively with teams across time zones.
- Contributes towards providing solutions or strategies for improving content organization and content usability.
- Mentors and trains peers.
- Has an understanding of current engineering methodologies (including Agile) and how to develop high quality documentation in that context.
- Collaborates regularly with peers, SMEs, and internal stakeholders.

We are a team within the Cloud,Platform and solutions at Cisco. We develop user documentation for network virtualization solutions aimed at global Service Providers. We have a strong, collaborative, well-established team in Bangalore. 

Who You Are:

We are looking for an experienced technical writer who is self-driven, passionate about the customer, knowledgeable about networking technologies, and enjoys working in global teams. The writer will work on complex virtualization products and deliver simple, clear, actionable user documentation, in adherence with company standards.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Receives limited supervision, including little or no supervision in the pursuit of established goals and the resolution of issues as they arise.
- Makes independent decisions with management input.
- Possesses technical and business knowledge.
- Possesses project management skills.
- Possesses industry knowledge.
- Determines technical objectives of projects with some discretion.
- Receives review of work upon completion for accomplishment of objectives.

Collaboration and Leadership
- Solves a wide range of difficult problems related to creation and maintenance of documentation sets in creative and practical ways.

Knowledge and Skills
- Possesses superior writing skills. Familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style.
- Possesses fundamental knowledge of the business processes, systems, and philosophy associated with
high-performance, high- technology companies.
- Identifies the significantly complex information needs of target audiences, develop appropriate documentation plans, and manage the execution of those plans concurrently.
- Possesses a high proficiency in networking, cloud, and virtualization technology and a thorough understanding of technical writing and project management.
- Creates complex technical documents.
- Partners with subject matter experts, leveraging common information in the development of complementary
documentation.
- Demonstrates proven leadership skills in the areas of team building, project management, and the mentoring of junior writers.


Education and Experience
- Typically requires B
A/BSc/MA/MSc/MCJ/BE or equivalent experience, and 6+ years of core experience in technical writing. Preferred: Degree in Computer Science or any engineering stream, English, Journalism. Certification in Technical Writing is a plus.
