Sr 5G Wireless Protocol Stack SW Engineer

Job Description

The Intel Next Generation and Standards NGS division is chartered with developing advanced prototypes of various technologies including next generation cellular modems. We are looking for Cellular Protocol stack SW engineers to work on prototyping the 3GPP NR compliant L2-L3 PS for IODT with key infrastructure partners.

Responsibilities include:

- Working in embedded SW development environment with RTOS like Linux/VxWorks running on high performance IA processors

- Design, develop, debug advanced protocol stack SW

- Work with standards technology development and system engineering to translate 5G communication designs and algorithms into functional prototypes

- Assess risks, identify issues and solutions to timely and efficiently achieve program goals and project objectives

- Drive resolution of technical issues with cross-functional teams escalate issues in an appropriate and timely manner

- Support IODT with critical ecosystem partners


Qualifications

Minimum Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline, with background in wireless communications and embedded software engineering. Ability to work in a structured, solution oriented and open minded working environment. Strong business verbal and written communication skills, good understanding of software development methodologies with at least:

- 8+ years in LTE, LTE-Advanced and Wireless Modem protocol stack

- 8+ years of solid and proven software development skills and coding practices in embedded C/C++

- Experience in Multithread - Multicore programming

- Experience with Defining Software flows and timings

- Good understanding of the L2, L3 protocol stack layers in 3GPP LTE covering LTE PS flows, features and procedures

- Good debugging skills

- Experience with software development and configuration management tools i.e. GIT

Preferred Qualifications:

- Strong ability to work with ambiguity, flexible in approach, creative in problem solving

- Proven ability to work across organizational, functional and cultural boundaries

- Risk taking to explore new possibilities for improvement and innovation.
