In The Netherlands Ericsson employs more than thousand people and consists of three different organisations: ‘Ericsson Telefoon Maatschappij’ (ETM) for sales and installation of new elements, Ericsson Broadcast and Media (TNL) for delivery of media to broadcast customers and Ericsson Network Services Netherlands (ENN) for network management and Services. This position is in the Ericsson Network Services Netherlands [ENN] which is responsible for managing the network of the main network operators in Netherlands. Job description: The Service Delivery Unit Optimize is responsible for Optimizing and innovating the networks of its customers with cutting edge new technologies. Main activities are innovation, design and optimization of our customers’ network. The Optimize RAN department does the initial Innovation design, testing and pilot, before the new Technology is rolled out in the network. These activities include New Technology Introductions, High/Low Level Designs, Capacity management, Testing and Configuration Management. Our task is to analyse customer requirements and translate them into high level and low level designs. The position that is vacant will be part of the KPN Solution Design team, supporting our customers 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G network requirements. The Network Designer performs design and optimization of a network to meet the customer requirements. This is applicable Radio (RAN), Broadband and the link of RAN to Transmission. The Solution Architect/Designer can be engaged in the whole process from pre-sales to service delivery with regular customer contact. Goal/Challenge Plan and design the network infrastructure, within existing guidelines and procedures, keeping in mind the business and/or project requirements. Stay ahead of the telecom developments; continuously improve own knowledge on elements, technologies, standardisation, and network configurations. Tasks As a RAN Solution Architect, the candidate will have the following tasks and responsibilities: Analyse customer technology requirements Designing and developing end-to-end technical solutions based on customer requirements Supporting full chain Network Innovations: from Network Designs through Testing, Pilots, and Evaluation to network Rollouts, Performance Monitoring, and Optimization Performing Impact Analysis, including TI and IT systems and processes, Performance Management, Configuration, and Capacity management Defining Test Object List (TOL) and performing tests in the Lab (Test Center) Piloting new Designs and new Technologies in the live Network by taking into account the established test and pilot procedures Responsible for introduction and implementation of new network features and functionalities, evaluating their optimal usage, parameter settings and performance Presenting the network designs and solution descriptions to the customer stakeholders Performing Networks audits, root cause analysis, tuning and optimization activities Supporting customer requests, providing consultancy, recommendations, and best practices Supporting introduction of new Hardware and rollout projects Contribute to creating commercial proposal to customer, be engaged in technical presales and support the sales team Actively maintain and develop knowledge of the competence area, in order to be able to perform the activities with a sufficient knowledge level Advise, deliver input for year plans and recommend technical improvements to Lead Customer Solution Architects to contribute to the optimization of the networks Required competence WO/HBO+ degree (technical/telecommunications) Master in Electrical Engineering Acquaintance with Telecom networks and protocols Good understanding and experience with the Ericsson RAN products Minimal 5 years working experience as a Solution Architect in Mobile networks Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong focus on network KPIs, network statistics, data analytics and performance management 5+ years of experience with Mobile Networks Optimization Extensive knowledge of ENIQ and Business Objects PM systems, knowledge of other PM tools & systems is a plus Process oriented – understanding process deployment, optimization, and efficiency Experience in Network rollout projects – building & running radio networks Strong knowledge of Configuration management tools, principles, and processes Good MO Shell knowledge Solid knowledge and experience in Radio Networks Planning, antenna systems, RF and link budget calculations Good 5G and massive IoT understanding and knowledge Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients, team members and management Responsible, service-minded, flexible, taking initiatives Systematic and pragmatic, yet creative Customer and service oriented, understanding the customer needs Good understanding of Project management, project & resource planning Able to advice in a convincing way, verbally as well as on paper Able to deliver with high quality and add value to the projects Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably in Dutch Location: Main location for the Solution Architect is Sliedrecht (Rotterdam area, Netherlands). The work also requires presence on customer premises and the KPN test centre (The Hague).
