Software Test Engineer

Alpharetta, GA or Austin, TX

What You’ll Do:

You will engineer performance tests for a Network Security Solution that is being built with cutting edge technology like Docker, Cassandra, Scala and others. You will execute tests against physical, virtualized, and cloud environments and determine what metrics are meaningful to other developers and engineers. You are someone who enjoys owning the creation of automation solutions and tools, with freedom and the expectation to contribute to the technology decisions of the organization. You will have the opportunity to create test frameworks that ensure built-in quality exists from the first line of code to the last. We all enjoy building systems to run tests across all levels of the software from functional to integration to an end to end system. We want you to be as creative as possible to break complex systems and drive quality and performance for our network security products. You will look to apply lean startup principles to validate the growth and value potential in all that we do.

Who You'll Work With
The Stealthwatch Engineering organization is a diverse team that is a part of the world’s largest security organization. You will work with energized and capable people that focus on outcomes for our customers. You will have the opportunity to work in a highly-collaborative work culture that fosters team self-empowerment, self-organization and decision-making.  You will be part of an established but growing organization that continues to thrive in the security industry.  Our testers are key members of small Agile software development teams that work on security analytics and network monitoring tools that can function both on-prem, in the cloud or in a hybrid solution.

Who You Are

You are the key advocate and driver in guiding the team and organization on how to discuss performance and performance testing. You are the voice of the customer on all matters to do with performance and system responsiveness. You have a passion for making things better, faster and more robust. You work with others on the team to expand our quality view and culture. You are able to understand and break down performance requirements, and you are interested in exploring these issues. You actively research how the system is put together to improve testing strategies. You have the ability to automate test cases using Python, Ruby, Javascript, and/or Scala. You can work with leadership and other test team members to create and enforce quality standards. You posses an inner level of confidence that allows you to lead some days and follow others based on what is needed for the desired outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:
• 3+ years of software testing experience
• Experience developing & executing Performance Tests
• Experience using Open Source Performance/Load Testing Tools (e.g. Gatling, Grinder, JMeter)
• 3+ years of experience working in test environments that require networking and TCP/IP skills
• 3+ years of experience working with the Linux OS
