What You'll Do 
We are looking for a bright and motivated Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Routing platform development team. As part of this team,
you will have the opportunity to work on the Integrated Services Router (ISR), ENCS, and the Cloud Service Router (CSR). The CSR is a virtual router currently available in AWS and Azure with plans to expand to other public clouds.  The CSR is also supported in private clouds (VMware, KVM, XenServer, Hyper-V) so you will have the opportunity to work in those areas as well.

Enterprise Routing has one of the most successful businesses within Cisco. The Integrated Services Router is an extremely successful platform that has over 85% market share. The ENCS family of server based appliances and the Cloud Services Routers continues that rich tradition in the Virtualized services market. If you want to get exposure to a wide variety of hardware platforms and Virtualization technologies, this is the right group to join.

Minimum qualification

You must be motivated, driven and a team player. You should be creative and interested in building solutions/technologies with the knowledge you already have. Additionally, you should be willing to learn quickly and be enthusiastic about working on a wide range of product areas. You must work well independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are essential.


You must have a strong background in software development including specification, implementation, and testing.


From a technical point of view, you should be proficient in:

- C programming

You should also be proficient in at least some of the following areas:

- Linux platform development

- Python programming

- Virtualization technologies (KVM would be a plus)

- Bash scripting

- SystemD/udev

- Driver development

- Linux kernel development

- Routing protocols

- Hardware bring up

- KVM knowledge

- Bootloader development

- x86 driver development

- multi-threaded/multi-core programming

- Linux kernel porting, patching, etc

- Git

- Yocto/bitbake


- Jenkins

- Cloud environments such as AWS/Azure/etc


Typically requires BS or MS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science combined with 0-7 years of related experience.
