The Business Entity

Within the Cisco Security Business Group, the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering organization contributes to the development of a ground-breaking set of technologies to protect users wherever they may roam, factoring in high availability and scalability from the outset.

We build infrastructure as a service, platform as a service and operate as a business within Cisco, facing both internal and external customers.

If you want to work in a dynamic, fast paced organisation with a focus on building and delivering leading cloud technologies, this is the place!

Role & Responsibilities

Your responsibility will be to drive a variety of infrastructure projects and assist in building the next generation of Cisco security architecture. You will work across engineering teams to capture the requirements and ensure that we can stay ahead of services’ growth for a truly global cloud platform.

Cisco relies on an industry leading platform to run its SaaS service architecture, you will be key to ensuring the execution of our Datacentre strategy meets the business needs.

The speed at which we operate requires the ability to adjust quickly to shifting schedules and priorities, and drive globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.

You will be involved in the following activities:

·       Coordinating procurement, delivery and installation of infrastructure equipment across a global Datacentre footprint

·       Driving requirements out of our engineering functions and assisting in defining the technical specifications of our cloud infrastructure

·       Managing 3rd party vendors including colocation partners and Internet Service Providers

·       Driving highly complex migration and greenfield projects from initiation to completion

·       Developing demand management methodologies to improve the speed and quality of deployments

Required Skills

·       At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within a technology focussed organisation

·       A track record of delivering high value IT infrastructure projects with a rigorous attention to detail

·       Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills

·       Excellent communication skills: able to write reports, interpret design diagrams and to present on available options

·       A solid understanding of Data Center technologies (space, power, cooling, cabling, cabinet layout, typical network and system components)

·       Systems Engineering or Network Engineering background with a grounding in networking and Linux systems, ideally around High Performance Computing or Cloud infrastructures

Desired Skills

·       Experience in the use of 3rd party Data Center providers and managing vendors for delivery

·       Knowledge of the AWS platform or of other public cloud architectures and services

·       Experience working in an Agile/DevOps environment
