Senior Security Researcher

Job Description

Responsible for providing technical expertise in secure design, advanced security validation and security tools to Intel's software teams. Responsibilities may include threat assessment, vulnerability assessment, fuzzing, evaluation of security validation and threat/vulnerability analysis tools. Ensures software products conform to secure development standards and specifications. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art security principles, theories, attacks, security validation techniques, security tools and contributes to literate and conferences. May participate in development or intellectual property. Require thorough knowledge of security practices, procedures and security analysis tools in order to perform non-repetitive, analytical work. Maintains a deep level of expertise in at least one technical domain e.g.,IoT SW Security, open source SW security, cloud security, web application security and provides/contributes to thought leadership in this area. The person must have a hacker's mindset and should have demonstrated related work to perform best in this position.


An ideal candidate would exhibit behavioral traits that indicate:

  • Ability to communicate technical info and ideas so others will understand. 
  • Ability to coach and motivate less experienced team members to achieve their goals. 


Minimum Qualifications: 

Position requires a minimum of 7+ years of experience in Software Security, preferably including experience in security validation and security tools for applications, open source SW, web applications, and cloud services. Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Science, Information systems or related field, or BS in one of these disciplines with additional 3 years of experience required. 

  • Minimum 5 years technical experience in security validation and fuzzing with at least one major technical security domain (web applications, cloud computing, virtualization, open source SW, IoT SW etc.) 
  • At least 2 years consulting skills and be comfortable partnering with business units to understand business requirements and advise on security matters 
  • At least 2 years of experience in security policies and practices including ISO standards 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with: 
  • Windows 10 and/or Linux operating systems, and Web hosting services 
  • Programming languages like C, C++ or Java 
  • Position desires 2 years of experience in HTML5 or JavaScript languages. 

Preferred Qualifications:                         

  • Significant knowledge of security standards, security controls, software technology and software security. 
  • Technical expertise in one or more of the following: application security, web services security, cloud/virtualization security, open source software security. 
  • Significant knowledge of security standards, security controls, software technology and software security. 
  • Technical expertise in one or more of the following: application security, web services security, cloud/virtualization security, mobile security. 
  • General understanding of application security architecture and secure development best practices. 
  • Must have broad and deep technical knowledge and be able to learn new technologies rapidly and independently. 
  • Candidate should have broad technical foundation and be able to understand operating system, cloud infrastructure, and application development design and support as necessary to be able to analyze issues and recommend solutions for the detection, remediation and prevention of security vulnerabilities.
