What You'll Do

The Senior Director of IP Transactions will be responsible for the patent transactions supporting Cisco’s successful, dynamic, and growing businesses and product lines while leveraging one of the leading patent portfolios in IT. drive negotiate and close patent licenses, purchases, relationships with patent aggregators and all patent-related issues of Cisco’s acquisitions and key partnerships.

You will lead the intellectual property aspects of Cisco’s participation in industry standards organization and advise on patent issues connected to open source. You will support technology licensing for Cisco’s Chief Technology Architecture Office. You will drive superb results by leading seasoned IP professionals.

Who You'll Work With

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Intellectual Property within the Cisco Legal department, you will be part of a world-class intellectual property team that has pioneered new approaches to portfolio development and mitigating the risk of non-practicing entities.

Our Legal department is a group of top professionals that prides itself on innovation and gives its members the support, technology, and educational opportunities to succeed. You will also work closely with Cisco’s corporate business development team to address the patent aspects of Cisco’s industry-leading acquisition program.

Who You Are

You have deep subject matter expertise in intellectual property law plus:

  • 10 years+ experience in IP transactions
  • 15+ years intellectual property experience
  • Have graduated from a recognized law school, and are admitted to practice before a state bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office


Significant in-house and management experience strongly preferred. You have a proven ability to think creatively and drive complex transactions to closure. You have the ability to motivate a team of professionals to get results and build strong relationships with your legal colleagues and business clients. You are able to quickly get to the heart of complex issues and present them in a clear way to drive decision making.
