Description DUTIES: Develop and design databases to support AT&T business applications and systems. Perform database configuration, reliability, recoverability, performance, and the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of database software and related components. Provide Oracle Database Administration production support for mission critical Oracle 11g/10g/9i/8i databases. Analyze and design high availability architecture involving various technologies including FSFO, RAC, Logical and Active DataGuard, BCV, and GoldenGate. Strategize, project manage, and execute database migrations to new architecture with minimum downtime involving thousands of databases. Troubleshoot and resolve issues during post conversion and migration. Provide operational database support for databases on different DBMS (Database Management Systems) software levels and versions. Support the availability, performance, currency, integrity, security, and confidentiality of the database instances, database backups and recoveries, database disaster recovery, data replication, database growth and disk space utilization, database problem analysis and resolution. Provide operational support for configuration files, operating system account and system level schemas, tablespaces, database patches, database upgrades, database compatibilities, database bugs and workarounds, database vendor support process, database documentation, new database release features and enhancements, applications consultation, SQL tuning and object management, automation, and project implementation activities, such as physical design and installation of database environments. Design and estimate DBMS product certification and serve as DBMS product or feature subject matter expert and point of contact for consultation, direction and guidance regarding database management system features. Plan, analyze, design, develop, test, and document computer programs, applying tools, techniques, and knowledge of computer software engineering for development. Develop computer applications and write programs to achieve functional and operational goals as defined in the project scope to aid in storing, locating and retrieving specific documents, data, and information. Convert project specifications and statements of problems and procedures to detailed logical flow charts for coding into computer languages. Evaluate user requests for new and modified programs. Design software or customize software for client use to optimize operational efficiency. Test existing and new computer applications and programs for any defects and suggest modifications. Document software practices and develop user documentation manuals. Analyze and design databases within an application area working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team in order to provide production support, installation, configuration, upgrades, patches, performance tuning, backup and recovery, with creation of physical and logical database design. Consult with customers to identify current operating procedures and clarify the required software objectives. Initiate development and implementation of Software Best Practices and Software Development Methodologies.



REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering Science or Information Technology and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience providing Oracle Database Administration production support for mission critical Oracle 11g/10g/9i/8i databases; analyzing and designing high availability architecture involving various technologies including FSFO, RAC, Logical and Active DataGuard, BCV, and GoldenGate; strategizing, project managing, and executing database migrations to new architecture with minimum downtime involving thousands of databases; and troubleshooting and resolving issues during post conversion and migration.
