Description This position is a Sr. Engineer role aimed to identify and develop automation to improve operations performance on a major U.S. Government contract. The ideal candidate will be flexible and flourish in a fast-paced and challenging environment. He or she should be a self-starter and have excellent motivation, leadership, and ingenuity to excel at this position. The ideal candidate will be able to identify inefficiency in both processes and performance of tools. The Sr. Automation Engineer will be required to articulate in detail, technical solutions to complex problems and gain support and endorsement of the customer and engineering staff.

**Scope and responsibilities include** :

+ **Knowledge** : Applies extensive technical expertise, and experience to real-world scenarios.

+ **Problem Solving** : Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

+ **Discretion** : Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches to assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results.

+ **Impact** : Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.

+ **Liaison** : Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts in a customer-facing capacity with senior leadership on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Scope and responsibilities include:

+ Act as AT&T’s SME to provide advisory consultation on solution development based on Industry success from AT&T.

+ Interact with Operations Engineers and Operators to provide solutions and resolve problems in a timely and proactive manner.

+ Implement tools and processes for efficient and effective operational management of the environment -- change management, monitoring, alerting, incident handling, customer request handling, etc.

+ Develop processes and programs to enhance network performance and reliability.

+ Define, manage, and execute on a roadmap of projects that continues to raise the bar through implementing innovative technology, tools, automation, and processes.

+ Provide functional guidance, technical support, training, quality control/assurance to Intermediate and Associate personnel.

+ Define functional requirements, perform research, evaluate vendors/solutions, and design/implement solutions.

+ Engage/negotiate with operations stakeholders to develop software behavioral requirements; to be translated by software development into minimal viable product.

+ Provide technical engineering support to all phases of network development, operation and management.

+ Analyze network topologies and network performance.

Required Experience, Education, and Certifications:

1. Considered an emerging authority.

2. Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or 5 years demonstrated experience.

3. Experience with Various Open Source products focused on Automation (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

4. Linux shell scripting (bash scripting, Python is a plus)

5. Familiarity with Industry leading Vendor products (Cisco IOS/ISR/ASR, Juniper OS, Coriant, Ciena)

6. Fundamental understanding of element management systems, network function virtualization, MPLS VPN, and security technologies

7. Experience and ability to lead projects; work individually on projects, as well as, a team player.

Desired Experience, Education, and Certifications:

+ A passion to automate everything

+ A motivated self-starting personality, able to work independently while maintaining patience with constant interruptions and multiple requests.

+ Strong speaking, listening, and writing skills are critical for presentations to varied audiences in terms non-technical leadership can understand.

+ Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

+ Technologically savvy in handling of administrative practices.

+ DoD Network experience a plus.

+ Comfortable working within an Open Storage facility.

+ Hold or able to obtain 8570 certification.

Required Clearance: Active SECRET, ability to obtain Top Secret
