Job Description

Join a team of researchers at the Intel Wireless Communications Research Lab at Hillsboro, Oregon, responsible for research on future wireless Technologies.

An important part of this research involves generating new concepts, implementing them on simulation and prototyping platforms, conducting experiments and collecting and analyzing the data to support them.

The intern is expected to contribute to the developing system and link level simulations, or FPGA emulation system, formulating creative solutions and conducting experiments on research problems related to advanced wireless networks.

The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Communication skills and demonstrated the ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently, on occasion when required.
  • The candidate is expected to have research ability, problem-solving and analytical skills to succeed in the position.


Qualifications

You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Relevant experience can be obtained through school work, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/ or work experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The candidate must be pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields.

Minimum 6+ months of experience in the following:

  • Simulation of wireless communication systems OR Wireless communication on FPGA or another platform.
  • Programming in MATLAB, C/C++, or RTL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research experience of advanced wireless technologies, especially 3GPP LTE/LTE.
  • Advanced and WiFi MAC/PHY protocols.
  • Coursework/experience with prototyping and FPGA/VHDL programming.
  • Past experience and expertise in simulating advanced wireless systems is a must if the candidate has a hardware background.
  • Advanced/5G NR technology are highly desirable.
