Description This position is part of a professional services effort that provides engineering and operations & maintenance (O&M) support to an AT&T Government Solutions customer in Northern Virginia. Sr. Systems Administrator. The Linux System Administrator (SA) is responsible for the provisioning, installation/configuration, scripting, and the operations and maintenance of the current hardware and software solution. The SA will manage configurations (baselines, changes, compliance, and IP address management) and device life cycles which are crucial to meet the customer’s mission oriented requirements. The scope of the work includes implementation technical support, updates, and problem resolution. The successful candidate will serve as a team member and an individual contributor. The SA is also responsible for providing status updates and making technical recommendations during monthly program reviews or in response to ad hoc requests.



Responsibilities include:



+ The design, integration, implementation, and support for the Cayenne project systems

+ Supporting the program's senior leadership and manage the technical aspects of the Cayenne project from inception to completion including technical assessments, design, planning, integration, testing, and implementation

+ Generate, review, and update technical documentation (SOPs, User Guides, etc.) that are managed by the program to ensure that it is up to date and accurate

+ Provide technical support for engineering change proposals (ECPs)

+ Work in collaboration with Senior Software Developer/Engineer and serve as their backup



At least 10 years of experience designing, configuring, and implementing Linux and networking solutions. Demonstrated experience in the following:



+ Proven System Administration skills (MS Server and LINUX/UNIX)

+ Proven scripting skills using PowerShell, LINUX/UNIX Shell, Python, Pearl or other software engineering skills

+ Experience in analyzing upfront requirements and breaking down those requirements to work units

+ Proven skills in setting up vCloudAir, SoftLayer, AWS and/or virtual server environments

+ Proven BGP configuration skills in MPLS networking environments



Candidate must be strong in analytical thinking and problem solving. Strong oral and written communications skills are also needed. Occasional work at different locations within the Washington Metro Area and some domestic travel required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, information technology, engineering or a computer-related field is desired.



Required Clearance: Able to obtain SECRET to start, but must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance



Desired: ITIL, Security+, Network+, LINUX/UNIX Certifications, CCNA or equivalent, Amazon Web Services administration, Python software development, Windows Server Administration
