As a Lead Benefits Consultant on the Litigation Support and Appeals team, you may be responsible for processing and responding to court orders, subpoenas, EEO requests for benefit information and documents. You may support the Legal and Labor departments in defending claims against the company and its benefit plans, including proposing appropriate strategy and settlement language. You will coordinate with third party vendors and Benefits department vendor managers to assist in litigation support; respond to request from various governmental agencies, including law enforcement, regarding certain confidential benefit matters; manage assigned projects; and engage other internal and external resources as directed. You may assist in developing answers for discovery matters such as interrogatories and requests for production of evidence. You will implement terms of settlement agreements, grievances or arbitrations. You may support internal appeal committees. You may be called upon to prepare case valuation calculations, attend settlement conferences, mediations and court appearances on behalf of the AT&T benefit plans, and write settlement recommendations for plan fiduciaries to review. You may work creatively with internal and external organizations to improve and, as necessary, customize operational processes.



Required:



You must have 3-5 years of experience with the benefit industry as it pertains to Disability, Health & Welfare, Pension and Savings plans. You must have relevant experience in a corporate or benefit administration environment and be able to perform financial or operational analysis abilities under little direction, as well as excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential. You must be able to understand and apply legal and financial concepts. You must be able to negotiate settlements and participate in other legal situations. You must have superior research skills and be able to interpret benefit plan language. Qualified candidates should have the ability to deal with complex problems and business situations. A successful candidate will be a problem solver who is detail oriented. Familiarity with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and its regulations is a must.



Desired:



A BA or BS degree is essential



A JD, MBA, CEBS, SHRM, math or finance credentials would be a plus.
