Job Description

Intel's New Devices Group is responsible for developing exciting new "wearable" devices and technology. The HW platform architect has the responsibility of architecting HW platforms, developing prototypes, and designing reference platforms.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Define and write specs of HW platforms targeted for early prototyping, platform validation and for reference platforms.
  • Work with business teams to translate requirements into HW platform definition and architecture.
  • Be involved in the full Product life cycle from platform definition to release.
  • Responsible of ingredient selection process BOM components, FW, SoC, ...
  • Ensure HW platforms meet specification criteria modularity, board form factor/size, power, performance, thermal, etc...
  • Drive HW platform architecture functions including definition of use cases, SoC features and platform features.
  • Ensure HW platforms are delivered within targeted BOM cost
  • Work directly with external component vendors SOC, Connectivity / Audio / sensors / Display, etc..
  • Work with the SW/FW, system and application engineering teams to ensure consistent and successful and optimal solutions
  • Definition of requirements for various functional sub-systems of the platform including SoC and IC selection.
  • Write specs, detailed block diagram and develop schematics



  • BSEE, MSEE preferred
  • 8+ years' experience in HW platform architecture or related experience
  • Solid understanding of use cases, usage profile, power/performance requirements
  • Understanding of OS eco-system and requirements
  • Good understanding of end product requirements: wearable products is a plus
  • Familiar with wireless systems including Bluetooth, BTLE, WiFi, LTE, etc.
  • Experience with standard digital interfaces and protocol structures such as I2C, I2S, USB, UART, SPI, MIPI, etc.
  • Solid understanding of HW Platform delivery as well as full flow of interactions with business, SW/FW, HW board, team, etc.
  • Ability to make rapid decisions based on data, team collaboration and input to meet business objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
