What You’ll Do:

             Do you desire to gain insight into how the business is impacted by politics and public policy? As a Government Affairs and Public Policy Intern, you will do this firsthand while obtaining valuable professional experience in corporate government affairs.

             You will collaborate with a global team to prepare policy briefings for Cisco executives.

             You will use your written communications skills to condense long-form briefing materials from global teams into short-form briefs digestible for senior executives.

             Do you love to research? You will research political and public policy issues affecting the technology industry worldwide.

             You will help arrange dignitary visits to our corporate headquarters in San Jose.

             You will provide project management and communications support on special projects.

Cisco’s Government Affairs team represents the company with governments worldwide to establish relationships with key government leaders, advance Cisco’s public policy goals, and educate governments about Cisco and the networking business. Government Affairs is involved in all key legislative, regulatory, and global issues that impact the technology industry. Our team is comprised of 37 government and public policy experts around the globe, including former elected officials, parliamentarians, regulators, and political staffers to senior government officials.

             Currently pursuing a degree (Bachelor's or Master's) at an accredited school, ideally in Political Science, Business, or a related field with a demonstrated interest in governments, politics, and public policy

             Minimum 3.0 GPA; 3.5 or higher preferred

             A strong writer with a very close attention to detail and ability to prioritize under deadlines

             Collaborative with excellent organization, research, and social skills

             Comfortable interacting with executives and senior-level government officials

             Proficiency in MS Office applications; strong Excel skills are a plus
