What You'll Do

Cisco is seeking assistance for its Global Export Trade group in the export control classification of Cisco’s products. Communicating with product teams to conduct export product reviews and assisting in completing required product information for global encryption authorizations are also a part of this position.

You will investigate and resolve issues while ensuring data accuracy across Cisco’s product lines. You will also analyze and optimize processes for daily parts while maintaining and presenting metrics on various classification workflows.

Who You'll Work With

You will be assigning export control classification information (Export Control Classification Number) to Cisco’s newly built part numbers. You will also work closely with product teams, Global Trade Operations and export licensing teams to classify products.

You will work well in a global team environment and handle the ever-changing priorities of worldwide export control. This position requires a motivated person with strong attention to detail and data analysis skills.

Who You Are

You have a consistent track record of analyzing product technical details against regulatory criteria in order to derive an effective classification; and be able to map and lead export control classifications of part numbers. You have strengths in demonstrating tenacity in problem solving as well as implementing solutions and optimizations.

A technical familiarity with items controlled in Category 5, Parts 1&2 especially encryption items is helpful as well as with the Wassenaar Arrangement Control list and working knowledge of the US EAR. You also have equal knowledge of dual-use export control regulations and encryption controls in the EU as well as individual country regimes (e.g.: France, Hong Kong, Israel, and Russia). Strong MS Excel skills, with the ability to parse large spreadsheets and use v-lookup, familiarity with MS Outlook and MS Word and strong interpersonal and record-keeping are both highly desirable skills.

Willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters and execute with a “can-do” and sales oriented attitude on a wide range of operational export control issues are keys to success in this role. You should also be fluent in spoken and written English and knowledge of French or Spanish is a plus.

The minimum requirements are:

  • BA/BS in technical or trade compliance field and minimum of 7 years of experience
  • Existing working experience in export control classification within and export control group
  • Experience Knowledge of basic encryption principles, network security, and encryption protocols
  • Extensive experience with Smart Sheets and Oracle GTM export compliance application will also be a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
