Failure Analysis Engineer

Job Description
  • Responsible for identifying and researching integrated circuits failures to improve product yield, quality and/or reliability.
  • Evaluates the electrical and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits to determine the root cause of failure.
  • Analyze failure reports and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems.
  • Uses electrical FA tools including emission microscopy, IR thermography, OBIRCH, LADA and LVx to do integrated circuits failure analysis and debug.
  • Perform pre-work on test content to fit LADA/LVx requirement for subsequent analysis.
  • May support new product transfer and startup and the automation and improvement of the failure analysis process.
  • Strives to proliferate shared learning across sites.
  • Maintain necessary records and reports.
  • Performs other related duties as required or as directed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical - Electronic, Microelectronics Engineering or equivalent with minimum of 5 years experience of semiconductor failure analysis.
  • Knowledgeable in advance wafer/ device level CMOS and analogue circuitry, test infrastructure, silicon processing, semiconductor device physics and VLSI circuits.
  • Strong understandings of product memory, logic, scan chain design and test content/flow to help in fault isolation activities.
  • Experience in ASIC/FPGA test vector modification, CMT test platform operation, dynamic probing and soft defect localization will be an added advantage.
  • Familiar with ATE data logs and the operation of basic electrical analysis equipment, such as parametric analyzers, curve tracers and oscilloscopes.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, in depth fault isolation capability, and drive for conclusive root cause.
  • Good command in English, drive for results, work independently or with team with professional personality.
