The Meraki Team is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized, and entrepreneurial Events Marketing Manager to be responsible for a portfolio of high-profile events across Japan attended by Meraki customers, prospective customers, sponsoring partners, analysts, and employees. The ideal candidate will be joining a collaborative Sydney-based team and have a solid understanding and experience managing large trade-shows, regional events, roadshows and company events including scoping and goal setting, overall project management and execution, analysis and reporting. 

The purpose of these events is to increase brand awareness, generate high-quality leads, develop and advance the company’s sales pipeline, and educate and empower attendees. This person also understands how to manage the relationship between Sales and Marketing, acting as the liaison between the field and the other departments within the company. Finally, this role is focused on driving demand through activities executed in the field in collaboration with the sales team, optimizing these programs over time, and delivering measurable ROI.


  • Ensure the successful planning and execution of road shows, including venue selection, contract execution, budget management, staff and attendee communication, registration development, creative services production, and general logistics to ensure the program remains within budget, meets its programmatic goals, and reflects favorably on the Meraki brand.
  • Manage all components of Japan tradeshows and conferences attended by Meraki staff/speakers, including booth/creative development and planning all aspects of Meraki-led and Cisco-led events.
  • Uncover event opportunities in Japan market and take ownership and drive strategy, execution, analysis and measurement of Meraki created Japan sales enablement programs.
  • Regularly survey and implement feedback from event attendees and involved event participants (booth staffers, partners, customers, etc) to ensure identified objectives and event mission are being met.
  • Successfully interface and collaborate with Cisco Japan Marketing teams on events and event-related marketing campaigns that will generate leads and ultimately revenue pipeline in Japan.
  • Continually identify, propose, and implement cost-savings opportunities.
  • Initiate and lead new event programs to generate new opportunities from existing or new customers with the ability to create program goals, messaging, communication and overall event plans with minimal direction. through thoughtful and analytical program development.
  • Engage appropriate counterparts outside of Meraki to gain best-practice knowledge and market trends which enhance our events.
  • Partner on other Event Marketing programs as requested based on need or opportunity.
  • Act as a resource and liaison to members of the Events & Brand team to promote team collaboration and engagement for what is best for the Meraki business.
  • Support additional internal event program, such as events promoting positive corporate culture events, when the events needs are less demanding.
  • Utilize reports from SFDC to identify, analyze,  track, and report on key performance indicators to determine ROI, forecast alignment, and event metrics.
  • Proactively bring new ideas and improved processes to the team for consideration.  Think differently and deliver excellence.
  • Develop, plan, and manage corporate events including sales incentive programs, internal training and education programs, and company cultural happiness events.


  • 5+ years of demonstrated success in event project management, campaign marketing, and/or consulting with an ability to thrive in a changing environment.
  • Must speak Japanese at a native level and English fluently
  • Professional interpersonal skills. Proven track-record of successfully leading complex event programs with varied stakeholders representing cross-functional units.
  • Proven success in managing external vendors and suppliers, and logistics experience – hotels, shipping, F&B contracts, etc.
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to work across all levels in an organization and with external event agencies.
  • Competent budget development and management skills, as well as analysis of program results.
  • Must be exceptionally detail-oriented and able to successfully manage multiple, concurrent project demands within established timelines.
  • Should possess a sense of connection in helping to achieve the company’s annual goals. Experience working with or supporting sales initiatives is considered a plus.
  • Resourceful, self-starter. Sense of urgency and strong work ethic. Excitement about realizing the potential in just about everything. Pro-active idea contributor and an engaged team member.
  • Limited travel as related to assigned events. Travel requirements may increase as needed.
  • Exceptional computer skills required (at a minimum): Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Familiarity with Marketo or similar marketing automation platform.
  • Travel up to 25-30% for onsite event management
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
