RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze data to deeply understand operational characteristics of our systems in production
  • Responsible for technical content of design reviews and/or code walk-throughs
  • Works across functional teams to develop system/unit functional specifications
  • Coaching and Mentoring junior engineers on sound design principles
  • Effectively communicates difficult messages consistent with management direction
  • Develops tools or processes as appropriate and champions them through the organization in order to improve productivity 

 

Who You'll Work With

Cisco Web Security

Our team is responsible for re-architecting the platform of the Web Security Product. We are agile practitioners and drive all of our code through tests. We collaborate heavily from the start of any feature with our QA Engineers. We follow the DevOps working model; this means we are responsible for our components all the way from design to writing the first line of code through to delivery into production and beyond. We are working towards achieving continuous delivery; so your code won't linger long before it gets into production. Most importantly, we like to think of ourselves as a relaxed and communicative bunch of individuals who are fun to work with.

 

We expect you to participate and actively shape the way that we design new user experience, and develop and maintain code in order to achieve high standards, rich user interfaces and constantly strive to improve. Who You Are

MANDTORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience in Java and Scala
  • Strong experience with MongoDB and Kafka platform
  • Experience with cloud technologies and containerization (AWS, Docker)
  • Development experience of writing multi-threading highly scalable components
  • Development experience in Cross platform libraries
  • Strong commercial background in object oriented design
  • Good understanding of network protocols and web based technologies (HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, REST, TLS)
  • MSc in Computer Science
  • Test Driven Development experience
  • Strong working experience in an Agile environment (preferably SCRUM master experience)

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Build, deploy, monitor, manage and maintain Cloud applications and the underlying Cloud (e.g. AWS, Docker, etc.) technologies in local and remote data centers
  • Experience with proxies
  • SCRUM Master certification

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Enjoys fast paced environments with a focus on rapid delivery in an Agile environment
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to assist engineers with debugging and verification
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a small team
  • Clear record of achievement and a willingness to work hard and persevere to make things happen
  • Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written
