We are experiencing explosive growth in our China IoT business and are looking for a talented Director of Engineering to oversee our local teams, lead the next phase of our partnership with China Unicom, and drive success of our platform in the China market.

 

About the role:

  • Based in Nanjing, China.
  • Responsible for high service quality and operational success of Cisco Jasper IoT platform in China (SaaS).
  • Oversees Jasper Engineering and Operations efforts for China Unicom across all local China teams (dotted-line):
    • Platform Services, Customer Support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DBA, Storage, Network, etc.
    • ~20 engineers and growing
  • Works directly with China Unicom to manage key projects, integrations, and escalations.
  • Works directly with Customer Support and NOC to manage service issues.
  • Works directly with local Account Management and our Customer Care Manager for China Unicom to ensure alignment on customer priorities for product enhancements, new integrations, bug fixes, etc.
  • Works closely with US-based Jasper Engineering teams to escalate key issues, coordinate development efforts, and plan roadmap items.

 

Requirements:

 

  • At least 3 years of management experience, with significant customer-facing interactions.
  • Overall understanding of Cloud architecture and technologies.
  • Experience running a 24x7, Software as a Service organization with on-call rotations and scheduling, ensuring SLAs of 99.95%.
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
  • Experience in incident management and customer escalations.
  • Experience working with global teams.
  • Wireless component understanding a plus (GGSN, PGW, HLR, SMSC, etc).
  • Able to handle multiple projects concurrently, understanding prioritization, commitments, and setting expectations.
  • Problem-solver and willing to work hands-on with internal teams and customers as necessary to isolate issues, overcome obstacles, and achieve business success.
