What You'll Do

Do you want to join the award-winning and largest in-house design community in Norway and shape the future of collaboration? Cisco’s Collaboration Video Technology Group is looking for a highly skilled and motivated design researcher to keep us real on our quest towards the future of collaborative experiences.

Our success relies on a deep understanding of humans and on our ability to validate that ideas and designs meet actual user needs. An important part of your role will be to build that capacity into the organization, i.e. helping cross-functional teams discover and formulate user needs throughout the customer journey and validate suggested solutions at all stages from conceptual designs to final details. This includes acquiring tools, building methodology, nurturing a network of field contacts, and coaching co-workers in how to effectively use these assets. You will act as Cisco’s internal expert consultant in the field of design research, and you will be responsible for managing the knowledge we generate from our design research.

In addition to research and validation, an equally important part of your role is to suggest solutions and translate research results into tangible designs yourself, being it interaction designs or service design deliveries. You will be part of cross-functional teams and collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers following agile methodologies.

The role will involve 10-20% international travel.

Who You'll Work With

You will be part of Norway's largest in-house design team, combining hardware, software and service design to craft a world-changing collaboration solution.

Our job is to help people everywhere to work well together. We design a suite of products used by millions of people around the globe, to meet, chat, co-create, and share their work like if they were in the same room.

The Cisco design team in Oslo has fun in the daily work of translating insights into transformative experiences, thriving on customers thanking us for making their work life better.

Who You Are

The person we are looking for is an experienced design researcher with a deep understanding of user experience and service design. You love to build stuff and urge to see beautiful design concepts validated by users. You have a genuine curiosity about people and you are a good listener. You value designs by how they are adopted and appreciated and show no respect for good intentions or theories that prove inept in front of users.

As much as putting your own skills to use, you enjoy coaching others to the right result. You are able to effortlessly flex between the bigger picture and concrete problems, and can also help others make that mental leap. You are passionate about technology and new media, and have the ability to engage people around you.

Minimum Qualifications

Master level education of Interaction design, Service Design or similar education

5+ years of relevant work experience from design-driven development

Experience conducting usability studies

Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with agile methodology is a plus

Strong analytical, communication and visualization skills
