Description A&T is seeking a Cybersecurity Research Engineer to join our Global Business - Public Sector Solutions team. As a Cybersecurity Research Engineer, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse cloud–based software systems across AT&T networks and labs. In this position, you will work as a member of a technical team, while also being responsible for independent tasks. This includes interaction with cross-functional peers in AT&T, vendors, and customers.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field from an accredited university. Master’s or PhD degrees in the above subjects is preferred.

At least six years of experience in security and software development areas.

Examples include:

+ Experience as ethical hacker, penetration tester, or with systems security analysis plus software development skills to identify security threats, development proof-of-concept to demonstrate reality and severity of threat, and develop mitigation to security threat

+ Research, development, build, and demonstration of proof-of-concept systems and/or trials such as requiring systems integration or software development

+ Experience and detailed knowledge of protocols to include TCP, UDP, IP, DNS, and HTTP as well as the ability to use tools to capture, inspect, and understand network traffic to identify security threats and recommend mitigations and/or understand network protocols

+ Experience with protocol analysis or code execution path analysis

Experience using Python or other software languages with the ability and enthusiasm to learn new programming languages to include Python

Familiarity packet capture tools such as include tcpdump and Wireshark

Comfortable at Linux Command line

Required Clearance: Must have TS/SCI with poly


+ Experience with RESTful communications, web services, and/or Service Oriented Architectures (SOAs)

+ Experience with web technologies such as web servers (especially Apache), web proxies (especially HA Proxy), databases (especially MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB), and web programming languages (especially Python, Python Web Services Gateway Interface, and PHP)

+ Cloud experience especially OpenStack developer
