4G/5G Modem Architect

Job Description

In this position you will lead and contribute to the architecture definition and design implementation of Intel's multimode (2G/3G/4G/5G) cellular modem. This includes defining and optimizing the modem architecture.

Your responsibilities will include some of the following:

Developing concepts to improve performance, power and silicon area of our products, as well as improving design implementation and verification efficiency

Analyzing architectural alternatives for implementing algorithms in silicon

Working with system design, and software teams to evaluate hardware-software partitioning alternatives

Developing architecture and micro-architecture specifications for modem components

Developing architectural reference models for supporting performance analysis and verification activities

Assisting in decision analysis with respect to overall system cost, area, power, and time-to-market impact

Developing test strategies in cooperation with system design and verification teams

Coordinating and leading cross-functional activities involving algorithm, design, verification and physical design


Qualifications

Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, PhD is a plus

At least 10 years of experience with hardware design
At least 3 years of experience with 3G/4G/5G modem products
Deep understanding of communication systems and DSP theory
Direct experience with one of the following areas:
- Architecture of specialized numerical processing engines for modem applications
- Design of data-parallel Vector/SIMD processors and engines
- Forward Error Correction (Turbo Codes, Convolutional Codes, LDPC, Polar Codes, etc.)
- ML, MAP receiver design
Experience designing high-volume products in advanced processes (14nm, 10nm, etc.)
Experience with low power and high-performance design
Experience with Verilog or SystemVerilog for design and verification
Experience with algorithm design with C/C++, Matlab, Simulink or equivalent
Experience with SystemC is considered a strong plus
Mentorship and leadership experience is required
