What You'll Do

As an Area Lead for State, Local, and Education (SLED) West you will engage with cross functional teams including: Sales and Sales Management, Finance Executives, Commercial Finance, Business Units, Cisco Capital, Legal, Revenue Accounting, and various FP&A teams. Your charter will be to establish and manage key metrics for your organization such as annual plan, quarterly forecasts, P&L targets, and expense targets. In order to be successful you will need to influence, review, and approve complex deals including pricing, terms and conditions, and revenue recognition implications. Furthermore, it will be critical to design process improvements for financial analysis based on your understanding of business needs and industry trends. A key success factor will by your ability to partner with Sales leadership on strategy and organization structure. Finally, as senior leadership member you will need to communicate complex ideas, anticipate potential objections and persuade others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.


Who You'll Work With

The SLED West Sales & Service Finance team supports Sales leadership, Finance executives, field FP&A teams, and Corporate FP&A. Our charter is to enable our business partners to be successful by providing them the guidance, tools and processes to meet ever-changing business needs and drive profitable growth. This team is responsible for managing overall Product and Services bookings, profitability, and operating expenses using complex data, analytics and financial modeling to explain and predict results.


Who You Are

You are a team player with strong communication skills and a broad Financial background including prior FP&A, Business unit, Sales, and Commercial roles. You will lead relevant analytics that enhance planning and decision-making by Finance and Sales leaders.

Our minimum requirements for this role: 

  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Provide holistic views of Product and Services performance and key drivers
  • Deliver FP&A priorities, including core analysis of key metrics (bookings, revenue, expense/HC, profitability, etc), new and ad hoc analysis, modeling and scenario testing for strategy development, strategic initiatives and planning.
  • Serve as financial leader to Sales leaders on sales performance, and provide input and interpretation.
  • Translate bookings targets into segment/region targets. Ensure that Sales management fully allocates targets into sales agent goals.
  • Analyze Segment expenses/HC per the recurring review cycle. Identify variances to budget and potential causes of under/over performance and provide recommendations.

  • Communicating with and influencing stakeholders (primarily Finance leaders and business partners.)
  • Collaborating with peers/leaders across Finance & Sales
  • Providing judgment and guidance on financial analyses
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Essbase and Business Objects
